Hi! I’m Susan. I’m a learner, a thinker, and a creator.

My professional journey includes a rich collection of experiences. As an educator I taught elementary students, Army soldiers, and University of New Mexico College of Education students. After completing a Master’s Degree in Organizational Learning and Instructional Technologies I served elementary schools as an instructional coach, helping teachers refine their classroom practice, and as a school librarian I managed large library collections and served more than 550 patrons at a time.

Most recently I’ve enjoyed shifting my focus, using my communication skills and creativity to promote the mission of a small nonprofit conservation archaeology organization. My responsibilities as their Digital Outreach Coordinator included:

  • Managing and developing the WordPress website
  • Organizing and hosting monthly virtual lectures
  • Collaborating with other staff to build and implement fundraising and membership drives
  • Managing the organization’s social media strategy across Facebook, Instagram, BlueSky, and LinkedIn
  • Using Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite to write and create content for the website, social media posts, and for publication in American Archaeology magazine

I’ve been described in many ways: enthusiastic, organized, creative, caring, thorough, conscientious, ethical, and dedicated. I’m a thinker, an organizer, a planner, and a problem-solver. This portfolio introduces you to who I am, and provides a glimpse into some of my core beliefs & skills.
